Along the coast to the west of Christchurch is Bournemouth offering all the delights of a large seaside town and a further 15 minutes drive to the west is the pretty town of Poole, secluded in one of the world’s largest natural harbours. Poole Park, set in acres of parkland and lakes, offers formal gardens with many species of birds and a boating lake.

Why not visit the quaint little village of Burley where the New Forest ponies and donkeys wander freely along the high street or join a pony trek from the local stables.

Apart from the famous Motor Museum (which has more than 250 vehicles displaying a range of motoring through the ages - from the 1890’s to cars of the future and the James Bond Exhibition) you can also enjoy the Palace House or Beaulieu Abbey.

At nearby Buckler’s Hard, the Maritime Museum shows aspects of shipbuilding and life in the 18th Century for the local shipbuilders. For opening times, please telephone (01590) 612345.
