The Priory Quarter is the oldest part of the town and home to the Red House Museum and Gardens. A charming Georgian building, built as a workhouse in 1764, now filled with a rich variety of displays and objects which reflect the social and natural history of the area, its geology and archaeology.
The 12th Century Priory Church, which stands above the town of Christchurch and Mudeford, which escaped demolition when Henry V111 dissolved the monasteries, has been restored and contains a monument to the poet Mary Shelley. The best way to visit and fully appreciate the Priory Church is with a guided tour; Adult £3.50; Child accompanied by an adult 50p.
The Kings Arms Bowling Green is a picturesque Green overlooked by The Kings Hotel, offering Jacks Bar and Restaurant, a perfect place to stop for a drink or a meal and admire the views. You can book a table online or call 01202 588938.
Adjacent to the Bowling Green are the ruins of Christchurch Castle; built around 1100 it was the centre of a siege during the Civil War.

Art and Culture
Christchurch has a flourishing arts and cultural scene with many local artists, performers and musicians. Christchurch and District Arts Association (CADarts) produce an extensive diary of arts events. The Hayloft Gallery in Wick Lane is run by CADarts and has changing exhibitions of pictures and prints by local artists.

Christchurch boasts an abundance of restaurants and bars in the town centre.
